Read-In with Our Buddies

Mystery Reader - Matthew's Mom

Thanks for sharing the true story, "Balloons Over Broadway", to us today!!!  What a perfect book to hear as we get ready to celebrate Thanksgiving!!!  The kiddos loved hearing about how the Macy's Day Parade came to be, and how Tony's balloons were a part of the parade!  We also enjoyed the second book called "Ferdinand!"  Thanks sooo much for being our Mystery Reader today!!! :)

Weekly Updates - Nov. 17-21

Hello!!!
What a snowy, cold weekend we had!!!  Hopefully everyone was able to stay warm this weekend!  Some of us were freezing at the Girls on the Run race on Saturday, but they did great!!!  Below are some reminders and updates for the week:

Reading - There is a reading log for this week, due on Nov. 24.  The Cold Read that was sent home on Nov. 7 is due Monday, Nov. 24 as well.  Our focus for the next few weeks is Main Idea and Supporting Details!

Writing - we are working on publishing our Infomation books!!!  Our celebration will be on Dec. 5, so save the date!  A note will be coming home ASAP regarding this celebration.

Math - our multiplication test will be on Thursday, Nov. 20.  A study guide will come home on Wednesday.  Remember you can always refer to the pages in the "math" section of the expanding file to help you study as well.

Social Studies - ch. 4 test is on Friday.  The study guide came home last Friday.  The timeline lesson is tomorrow, so if your child isn't sure about that when studying, they will be after tomorrow!  :)

Words Their Way - tests are this week.  They will receive a new sort to work on, but we will not test until the week of 12/8/14.  This will be the last sort and test until after the new year.  I will re-assess the students to see where they are when we return after winter break.  New words will come after that!

Blue Ribbon Celebration:
Tues. - wear a hat
Wed. - wear the color blue
Thurs. - wear pajamas
Fri. - movie and read-a-Thon

If you have any questions or concerns, as always, feel free to let me know!
Have a great day,
Becky

Constitution Game

The students were put into groups and given the directions and materials below.  They were told they couldn't ask for any help.

Then, as groups they had to "play" the game.

After playing, we talked about how this relates to writing the US Constitution.  Ask your kiddos how it went???  Was there any fighting?  Was it easy to create a game and rules?  What problems did they have?

Array Homework

Check out the friends below who remembered to bring their arrays to share today!!!
